Poetry Terms

sound devices
-rhyme:
same vowels and consonant sound at the ending of words
-repetition
using the same word or phrase more than once
-alliteration
using same consonant in the beginning of words


devices
-symbol
an object,person,or idea that stands for something beyond itself
-imagery
words and phrases that appeal to your senses 
-figurative language
metaphors simile personification:
writing or speech that is not meant to be taken for real


forms&purpose
-narrative-->tells a story
-ballad (narrative)
a type of story adventure romance drama spoken seriouslly
